The Scheme requires participating organisations to independently demonstrate that they are meeting relevant
environmental and planning requirements, all Federal and State environmental laws, policies and regulations and the
Clean Energy Council Best Practice Guidelines for Implementation of Wind Energy Projects in Australia.
The Scheme is based on the principles of the International Standard ISO 14001:2004 for its management requirements.
As well as demonstrating leadership and a commitment to best practice the participants to the Scheme can also benefit
through:
- Cost savings - the scheme will bring consistency and standardization across the industry that will lead to time and
cost savings
- Smooth relationships - certified farms will develop a reputation for best practice assisting in the development
process with planning authorities and communities
- A simple blue print for projects - scheme documentation including checklists, guidelines and template will assist
project development and operation
- Interactive hub - access to the member only section of the site will provide participants with updates and
information, including advice over time on policy and legislative changes, FAQs, and improvements to best practice
- Save time, stay informed - scheme documentation will be updated annually to ensure it reflects Federal and State
legislative changes in the sector.
- Risk management - scheme participants will have access to tools and information on environmental risks and
management, updated on a regular basis
- Brand recognition - participants, once certified will have exclusive access to the CWFA brand which will be
strongly and widely promoted by Clean Energy Council
- Continuous improvement - over time, the independent review process will ensure continuous improvement and
industry best practice
